FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ORIGINS: PROVINCETOWN
March 22 – April 5, 2013
Nine artists from the Massachusetts College of Art of Design (MassArt) Low Residency MFA Program at the Fine Arts Work Center (FAWC) in Provincetown, Massachusetts, exhibit recent work at the OGO Gallery in Jamaica Plain March 22-April 5, 3013.
The artists’ paths converged while sharing a pivotal experience in the “Low Res” program. Unlike more traditional graduate programs, candidates in the MassArt Low Res program only interact with each other and their instructors through their online courses by internet, with the exception of two 3½-week sessions per year in May and September at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
Jamaica Plain painter Terry Boutelle and Boston painter Julianne Martin, both members of the graduating class of 2013, organized the exhibit titled “Origins: Provincetown”. Also included are Boston area painters Gaye Korbet, Robin Levandov, and Jackie Feng. Worcester based sculptor Emily Sandagata, Providence painter Vincent Wolf, Provincetown painter Michael Walden, and Lisbon artist Catarina Coehlo are also included. The rich exhibit is diverse in technique and imagery.
The opportunity to exhibit at OGO Gallery provides a unique opportunity for these artists to collaborate and showcase their work.
Located at 405 Centre Street, OGO Gallery is a temporary gallery space in Jamaica Plain’s Hyde Square. Recently opened by Eileen Taylor, an artist and real estate professional who has lived and worked in the Boston area for 30 years. OGO Gallery’s first exhibit, “Tenfold”, an exhibit of painting students from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, closed on March 14.
All are welcome to the public receptions on Saturday, March 23 at 6:00 pm and on April 4, 6:00 – 8:00 pm in conjunction with Jamaica Plain’s “First Thursdays.”
