In September 2019, I was awarded an art residency on the remote island of Cuttyhunk. It is the outermost of the Elizabethan Islands. I used the time to begin working on a series of upcoming large oil paintings.
Cuttyhunk Island Artists’ Residency offers artists the time to focus on their work in a beautiful, remote setting far removed from the distractions of everyday life. An intimate group of twelve visual artists gather on Cuttyhunk Island for eight days to share ideas and learn from each other while working on their individual projects. We invite visiting artists each session to do slide talks and meet with each participant for informal critique sessions. The visiting artists work alongside the participants on their own projects and we all sit down to meals together.
